Birdman Raih Oscar Sebagai Film Terbaik
Perhelatan paling bergengsi perfilman dunia, 87th Academy Awards, akhirnya usai digelar di Dolby Theatre Hollywood pada hari Minggu (22/2) malam waktu setempat atau Senin (23/2) pagi waktu Indonesia.
Tak banyak kejutan yang terjadi, karena semua pemenang sepertinya sesuai dengan yang sudah diprediksikan oleh para pengamat film. Film besutan Alexandro Gonzalez Iñárritu, Birdman, sukses menyabet Piala Oscar dalam empat nominasi, termasuk Film Terbaik. Jumlah yang sama juga diraih oleh The Grand Budapest Hotel yang merajai kategori-kategori yang berhubungan dengan desain. Menyusul dengan raihan tiga Oscar adalah film Whiplash yang berjaya di kategori tata suara.
Untuk kategori akting, seperti telah diramalkan sebelumnya, dimenangkan oleh J.K. Simmons, Patricia Arquette, Julianne Moore dan si tampan Eddie Redmayne. Bagi Julianne, inilah kali pertama ia mendapat Oscar setelah “berpengalaman” empat kali dinominasikan. Terakhir, pada tahun 2003 ia mendapat nominasi Oscar lewat dua film sekaligus, yaitu Far from Heaven dan The Hours. Sebelumnya ia juga pernah mendapat nominasi di kategori Best Actress melalui film The End of the Affair (1999), serta sebagai Best Supporting Actress dalam Boogie Nights (1997).
Kalau ada penghargaan untuk host terbaik, mungkin Neil Patrick Harris layak mendapatkannya. Pasalnya, meski baru pertama kali, namun mantan host Tony dan Emmy Awards ini menuai banyak pujian berkat kepiawaiannya memandu acara sekaliber Oscar menggantikan Ellen DeGeneres. Apalagi saat sesi pembuka, di mana ia (bersama Anna Kendrick dan Jack Black) menampilkan aksi musikal berjudul Moving Pictures yang membuat para penonton tertawa sekaligus terkagum-kagum.
