The four talented girls sat down with Cosmopolitan to discuss their latest comeback, their biggest dreams for 2026 and their excitement at finally meeting their fans, VVinie, for the first time in Indonesia. Di atas panggung, VVUP begitu karismatik dan energik. Mereka selalu terlihat all out dengan koreografi yang challenging dan stage presence yang matang. Dalam waktu satu tahun sembilan bulan lebih lebih kita bisa melihat dengan jelas perkembangan VVUP pada setiap panggung yang mereka pijak. Grup ini memiliki magnet tersendiri untuk membuat kita tertarik dan mengikuti setiap perjalanan musikalitasnya.
On stage, VVUP is full of charisma and energy. They always give their all, serving up bold, challenging choreography and an effortlessly confident stage presence. In just over a year and nine months, they have got bigger and better. They have shown this in every step of the way. There's something irresistibly magnetic about VVUP that compels you to watch them and follow every step of their musical journey.
Debut pada 1 April 2024 melalui digital single “Locked On”, nama VVUP sendiri diambil dari VV yang menyerupai huruf W. Ada arti spesial dari permainan huruf tersebut, di mana W merupakan awal huruf untuk kata WIN yang berarti kemenangan. Grup yang dibentuk oleh EgoEnt dan debut terdiri dari empat perempuan muda yang berasal dari negara berbeda yaitu KIM (Indonesia), PAAN (Thailand) , SUYEON (Korea Selatan), dan JIYOON (Korea Selatan).
Debuting on April 1, 2024 with their digital single “Locked On,” the name VVUP is derived from the letters “VV,” which resemble the letter W. This wordplay carries a special meaning, as W is the first letter of “WIN,” symbolizing victory. Formed by EgoEnt, VVUP is a four-member group made up of young women from different countries: KIM from Indonesia, PAAN from Thailand, and SUYEON and JIYOON from South Korea.
“Karena kami adalah grup yang sangat berbeda dari girl group lainnya dan itu juga menjadi sebuah daya tarik tersendiri bagi VVUP,” ujar KIM dengan ceria pada sesi interview langsung bersama Cosmopolitan Indonesia saat kunjungan perdana mereka ke Jakarta untuk event Meet & Greet + Fansign in Jakarta bersama brand, MARK & LONA. Event tersebut juga berlangsung dengan begitu seru! Para pengemar tampak sangat antusias membagikan setiap momen perjumpaan bersama VVUP lewat berbagai media sosial.
“Because we are a group that stands out from other girl groups, and that uniqueness is one of VVUP’s greatest charms,” KIM shared with a bright smile during an exclusive interview with Cosmopolitan Indonesia, held during the group’s first visit to Jakarta for the Meet & Greet + Fansign in Jakarta event with MARK & LONA. The event was met with overwhelming enthusiasm, as fans eagerly shared their moments with VVUP across social media.

The release of VVUP’s first mini album, ‘VVON,’ featuring “HOUSE PARTY” and “Super Model” in November 2025 was met with an overwhelming wave of love from listeners in Korea and around the world. Despite the lingering Christmas holiday mood and VVUP’s packed schedule throughout their time in Indonesia, we found ourselves swept up in the excitement—thanks to the powerful energy VVUP brought to every moment of the shoot.

Congratulations, VVUP, on your latest comeback! “HOUSE PARTY” and “Supermodel” have received so much love from fans and listeners. How do you feel about your songs and your group becoming more widely recognized by the public?
SUYEON: Pertama-tama saya mengucapkan terima kasih banyak atas sambutannya dan semangat kalian membuat kami berusaha untuk terus memberikan yang terbaik.
SUYEON: First of all, I would like to sincerely thank you for the warm welcome. Your enthusiasm truly drives us to keep delivering our best work.
Jika kalian bisa memilih satu momen terbaik di tahun 2025 lalu, apa highlight terbesar dari perjalanan karier VVUP sejauh ini?
If you could choose the best moment of 2025, what would be the biggest highlight of your journey so far?
JIYOON: Kami sangat senang tampil di Seoul Music Awards 2025 dan di tahun 2025 kami senang karena tampil di panggung yang besar.
JIYOON: We are very happy to perform at the 2025 Seoul Music Awards, and in 2025, we are grateful for the opportunity to perform on such a big stage.
Untuk seseorang yang baru pertama kali mendengar tentang VVUP, bagaimana kalian mendeskripsikan style bermusik dan image kalian? Serta menurut kalian apa kekuatan terbesar VVUP dan charm sebagai sebuah grup?
For someone who is hearing VVUP for the first time, how would you describe your group’s musical style and image? What do you think is VVUP’s biggest strength and charm as a group?
KIM: Kami ingin orang-orang bisa merasakan sesuatu saat mendengarkan musik VVUP. Karena kami adalah grup yang sangat berbeda dari girl group lainnya dan itu juga menjadi sebuah daya tarik tersendiri bagi VVUP. Melalui musik VVUP, kami berharap bisa menginspirasi banyak orang dan semoga ada banyak orang yang bisa menikmati musik yang kami buat. Kami mengeksplorasi banyak genre, sehingga kami merasa musik kami bisa dinikmati oleh banyak orang dengan berbagai selera.
KIM: We hope that listeners can truly feel something when they listen to VVUP’s music. As a group, we stand apart from other girl groups, and this distinctiveness has become a defining charm of VVUP. Through our music, we aim to inspire many people, and we hope that our work can be enjoyed by a wide audience. By exploring various genres, we believe our music can resonate with listeners of diverse tastes.
Jika melihat kembali momen-momen saat VVUP debut, apakah ada hal yang ingin kalian improve atau lakukan secara berbeda?
Looking back at your debut, is there anything you would most like to improve or do differently?
PAAN: Kami ingin mencoba lebih banyak style dan menunjukkan kepada para penggemar style baru kami atau jenis musik baru kami, supaya mereka bisa menikmati baik gaya lagu yang sudah ada maupun konsep baru dari VVUP.
PAAN: We would love to explore more styles and present our fans with new sides of us, whether through fresh visuals or new musical directions. In doing so, we hope they can enjoy both the styles they already love and the new concepts we bring as VVUP.
Berbicara lebih dalam soal musik, siapa musisi atau komposer yang ingin kalian ajak berkolaborasi atau menciptakan musik bersama? Serta adakah musisi dan senior di industri musik yang kalian kagumi?
Which musicians or composers would you love to collaborate with and create music together? Do you also have any musicians or seniors that you look up to and admire?
KIM: Saya sendiri suka Rihanna dan ingin berkolaborasi dengannya.
KIM: Personally, I am a fan of Rihanna and would love to collaborate with her.
JIYOON: Saya ingin berkolaborasi dengan Jennie BLACKPINK. Saya sangat suka dan menghormati JENNIE sebagai artist. Ada banyak hal yang saya pelajari dari sosoknya.
JIYOON: I hope to have the opportunity to collaborate with Jennie from BLACKPINK. I truly admire and respect her as an artist, and she has inspired me in many ways.
PAAN: Saya sangat ingin berkolaborasi dengan XG karena saya begitu menyukai gaya musik yang mereka bawakan. Menurut saya segala hal tentang XG itu sangat keren!
PAAN: I would love the opportunity to collaborate with XG because I genuinely enjoy the music and style they present. To me, everything about XG feels effortlessly cool.
SUYEON: Saya ingin kolaborasi dengan Lee Yong Ji. Saya ngefans sekali dengannya. Dan karena VVUP belum pernah membawakan musik dengan style seperti itu, kami ingin mencobanya.
SUYEON: I would love to collaborate with Lee Young Ji. I’m a huge fan of her and since VVUP has never explored that particular musical style before, we are eager to challenge ourselves and try something new.
Chemistry adalah hal yang penting bagi sebuah grup. Apa rahasia VVUP dalam menjaga chemistry yang kuat antara satu sama lain? Serta apakah kalian juga memiliki hobi yang sama seperti makeup, menonton film horor bersama atau hobi lainnya?
Chemistry among the members is essential for a group. What is the secret to maintaining strong chemistry with one another? As a group, do you share any common interests—such as a love for makeup, watching horror movies, or other hobbies?
KIM: Karena kami selama 24 jam selalu bersama dan sering mengobrol, jadi menurut saya itu adalah salah satu cara membuat chemistry kami menjadi semakin dekat. Terkadang pun kami juga berdebat dan bertengkar, tapi itu merupakan bagian dari sisterhood dan justru membuat hubungan kami semakin kuat setiap harinya. Selain itu, banyak kesamaan yang kami miliki. Kami sama-sama menyukai make up, musik, dance dan menonton film. Kami juga suka nonton film thriller bareng! Tapi masalahnya baru lima menit film dimulai, mereka sudah pada tertidur. Jjadi sepertinya percuma ya, haha… Kami juga suka nonton film horor bareng.
KIM: Because we spend nearly 24 hours a day together and talk so often, I believe that naturally brings our chemistry even closer. Of course, there are times when we debate or argue, but that is simply part of our sisterhood—and it actually strengthens our bond day by day. We also share many common interests. We all love makeup, music, dancing, and watching movies. We especially enjoy watching thriller films together—although the problem is, just five minutes into the movie, everyone falls asleep, so it ends up being a bit pointless, haha. We also enjoy watching horror movies together.
JIYOON, sebagai maknae dan member terbaru yang debut bersama VVUP, apakah kamu juga sempat mengalami kesulitan tersendiri saat proses beradaptasi dengan member lainnya? Apakah ini juga membuat kamu harus belajar lebih cepat untuk menyeimbangi member lainnya?
JIYOON, as the maknae and the newest member to debut with VVUP. Did you face any challenges adapting to the other members and matching the group’s pace? Did this experience also push you to learn faster in order to keep up with the others?
JIYOON: Saat pertama kalinya saya bergabung, para eonnideul (kakak-kakak) memperlakukan saya dengan begitu hangat. Itu membuat saya menjalaninya dengan lebih mudah serta beradaptasi dengan cepat. Jika bertanya soal kesulitan, sebenarnya tidak ada hal yang membuat saya merasa kesulitan. Karena eonnideul sangat baik, kami latihan dan bernyanyi bersama. Saya pun belajar menyanyi dari KIM lalu belajar dance bersama PAAN. Semua itu membantu saya memberikan yang terbaik ketika tampil.
JIYOON: When I first joined the group, eonnideul welcomed me with such warmth. It made the journey much easier for me and helped me adapt quickly. As for challenges, there was nothing in particular that felt difficult, as the eonni are always so kind. We practiced and sang together, and I learned vocal techniques from KIM while practicing dance with PAAN. All of these experiences helped me give my very best when performing.
Seperti apa kesan kalian saat bertemu satu sama lain? Apakah ada momen lucu dan tidak terlupakan dari masa trainee kalian?
What were your impressions of one another when you first met? Were there any fun or unforgettable moments from your trainee days?
PAAN: Dengan member lain, pertemuan pertama kali berjalan dengan normal. Tapi pertemuan dengan KIM merupakan hal yang tidak bisa saya lupakan! KIM datang dengan energi yang kuat dan dengan suara yang lantang. Karena ia terbiasa dengan budaya asing, ketika menyapa KIM ia lebih sering berjabatan tangan dibanding membungkuk. Sebenarnya saat pertama kali datang ke Korea, ada satu hal yang membuat saya culture shock yaitu saya menjabat tangan! Sedangkan member seperti SUYEON dan JIYOON membungkuk. Menurut saya ini cukup lucu.
PAAN: My first meetings with the other members felt quite natural. But my first meeting with KIM is truly unforgettable. She came in with such strong energy and a loud, confident voice. Because she is familiar with international culture, she often greets people with a handshake rather than a bow. When I first came to Korea, this became one of my culture shocks—while members like SUYEON and JIYOON would bow, I instinctively reached out for a handshake. I thought it was pretty funny.
Berbicara tentang fashion, setiap member VVUP jelas memiliki gaya yang berbeda. Bagaimana kalian mendeskripsikan gaya fashion satu sama lain dan siapa yang paling menyukai hal-hal tentang fashion?
Speaking of fashion, each VVUP member clearly has a distinct style. How would you describe each member’s fashion sense, and who is the most into fashion?
SUYEON: KIM suka memakai pakaian yang cute, PAAN lebih menyukai style hip-hop, dan JIYOON berpakaian yang memberikannya aura cantik dan feminim. Kalau saya? Hmmm…
SUYEON: KIM loves cute fashion, PAAN prefers a hip-hop–inspired style, and JIYOON’s outfits reflect a graceful, feminine aura. And for me? Well…
KIM: Vintage? Sepertinya itu cocok dengan style kamu (SUYEON).
KIM: Vintage ? I think that really suits you, SUYEON.
SUYEON: Saya suka style layering. Dan menurut menurut saya member yang paling suka dengan fashion adalah diri saya sendiri.
SUYEON: I love experimenting with layering, and I would say that I am probably the member who enjoys fashion the most.

This is VVUP’s first meet and greet and fansign in Jakarta, Indonesia. For PAAN, SUYEON, and JIYOON, what have you heard about Indonesia from KIM? What would VVUP like to try or do while in Indonesia?
JIYOON: Karena Indonesia adalah negara asalnya KIM, jadi saya ingin pergi ketempat-tempat yang KIM pernah kunjung dan merasakannya secara langsung dan bermain bersama.
JIYOON: As Indonesia is KIM’s hometown, I hope to visit the places she has been to, experience them personally, and create meaningful memories together.
PAAN: Dan KIM pun pernah bilang, cuaca di Indonesia sangat panas dan ya ternyata benar-benar panas.
PAAN: KIM once shared that Indonesia’s weather can be quite hot, and it turned out to be exactly as she described.
KIM: Banyak sekali hal yang saya rindukan yaitu nasi Padang! Terus, saat SMA saya sering ke Blok M. Jadi seandainya bisa, saya ingin sekali mengajak mereka juga ke Blok M.
KIM: There are so many things I miss—especially nasi Padang. When I was in high school, I often spent time in Blok M, so if possible, I would really love to take them there as well.
Kalian bekerja dengan keras tahun ini. Apa mimpi terbesar VVUP sebagai sebuah grup? Serta apa hal yang ingin kalian raih di 2026 dan di masa depan?
You’ve worked incredibly hard this year. What is VVUP’s biggest dream as a group? What do you hope to achieve in 2026 and the future?
SUYEON: Di tahun 2025 kami ingin mengucapkan terima kasih banyak kepada para VVinie yang selalu mendukung kami. Di tahun 2026, kami akan lebih bekerja keras lagi agar bisa bertemu kembali dengan para VVinie serta kami pun ingin bisa mendapatkan penghargaan.
SUYEON: As we look back on 2025, we would like to sincerely thank VVinie for always supporting us. In 2026, we promise to work even harder so that we can meet VVinie again and, hopefully, receive an award.
Terakhir, apakah ada pesan yang ingin kalian sampaikan kepada para VVinie di Indonesia yang telah mendukung VVUP sejak debut?
Lastly, could you share a message for your fans VVinie in Indonesia who have been supporting VVUP since debut?
KIM: Kami mau mengucapkan terima kasih banyak untuk para VVinie Indonesia yang sudah support bahkan dari sejak masa dari pre-debut. Sebenarnya kami juga banyak berpikir, “Bahwa kenapa tidak langsung ke Indonesia saat debut? Kenapa baru sekarang ke Indonesia-nya?”. Tapi itu semua karena kami baru siap sekarang dan lebih bisa menunjukkan sisi cool dari VVUP saat ini. Jadi, itu mengapa kami memutuskan untuk ke Indonesia kali ini. Dan kami harap ke depannya lebih banyak VVinie yang support VVUP. Dan untuk VVinie semua, sayangi VVUP terus ya. We love you!
KIM: We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all VVinie in Indonesia who have supported us since our pre-debut days. We often wondered why we did not come to Indonesia at the time of our debut, and why we are only visiting now. The truth is, we feel that we are finally ready—to present the cool and confident side of VVUP as we are today. That is why we chose to come to Indonesia at this moment. We hope even more VVinie will continue to support VVUP going forward. And to all VVinie, please continue to love and cherish VVUP. We love you.
