Pertanyaannya tentang apa lagi gebrakan yang akan mereka bawa terus melekat dalam pikiran kami. Sebab bagaimana grup ini bisa begitu konsisten menghadirkan yang terbaik untuk para pendengar dan penggemar setia mereka, ENGENE? Seperti apa rahasia mereka?

Dirilis pada 17 November 2023 ORANGE BLOOD adalah manifestasi yang tepat untuk kesan warm, fresh dan young milik ENHYPEN. Lewat mini album ini para penggemar seolah dibawa pada sisi hangat di tengah musim dingin tahun 2023, bahkan hari di mana album ini dirilis adalah salju pertama kali turun di Korea Selatan. Ada perbedaan yang cukup terasa saat melihat perfomance ENHYPEN dan mendengar tujuh lagu yang ada di album ini. Mungkin ini mengapa ENHYPEN terus mematik sinar popularitas mereka sebab grup naungan BELIFT LAB ini tidak pernah berhenti pada satu titik dan berani mengeksplor hal baru yang belum pernah mereka coba. Anda mungkin akan setuju bahwa ENHYPEN selalu kembali dengan sesuatu yang penuh eksplorasi dan whimsical dalam setiap perilisannya.

Inilah waktunya kami bertanya kepada tujuh pria talented ini tentang mini album terbaru mereka ORANGE BLOOD, popularitas yang semakin bertambah setiap tahun, serta harapan terbesar mereka di tahun 2024 nanti. Kami pun mengulik... siapa personil ENHYPEN yang paling up-to-date mengenai media sosial (you know, we love their TikTok so much right!).

Selang tujuh bulan sejak mini album ke-empat kalian DARK BLOOD, ENHYPEN kembali dengan 5th mini album ORANGE BLOOD. Mini album ini seolah memiliki DNA fantasi DARK BLOOD namun hadir lebih warm dan kontras. Image eperti apa yang ingin kalian tampilkan kali ini? Serta apa pesan yang kalian harap ENGENE ingat dari album baru tersebut?

JUNGWON: Lewat ORANGE BLOOD, kami ingin menampilkan luasnya spektrum musikal dari ENHYPEN. Kami telah mengeksplor sejumlah genre dan gaya sejak awal debut, tetapi di album kali ini ENHYPEN membawa highlight berupa style yang lebih fresh dan belum kami coba sebelumnya. Kami ingin selalu menunjukkan bagaimana diri kami dalam menghadapi tantangan baru dan bereksperimen dengan gaya yang berbeda.

SUNOO: ORANGE BLOOD mewujudkan intrepretasi kami atas filosofi cinta ‘Carpe Diem’ - tentang mencintai secara dalam seolah setiap momen adalah yang terakhir. Demikian pula, pesan utama yang ingin kami sampaikan adalah ENHYPEN akan selalu berdedikasi untuk mencintai ENGENE dengan sepenuh hati. Kami ingin menampilkan versi yang lebih baik dari diri kami melalui album ini, sesuatu yang memancarkan nuansa berbeda dari rilisan kami sebelumnya.

Saat ORANGE BLOOD Concept trailer dirilis, video ini begitu menggemparkan ENGENE. Apakah kalian tahu bahwa penggemar membuat banyak teori dari concept trailer ini terutama terhadap jalan cerita DARK MOON: THE BLOOD ALTAR? Dengan lokasi syuting di Jeju dan scene by scene yang aesthetic dari sutradara Yu Kwang Goeng apakah kalian punya adegan sulit / cerita menarik selama syuting?

SUNGHOOON: Mengikuti concept trailer dari 4th Mini Album DARK BLOOD, kami sekali lagi berkesempatan untuk bekerja sama dengan sutradara Yu Kwang Goeng untuk concept trailer ORANGE BLOOD. Arahannya memegang peranan penting untuk membangkitkan emosi kami dan hal tersebut berhasil menghadirkan sebuah video trailer yang mengagumkan. Keindahan dari Pulau Jeju juga membuat kami kagum sepanjang pengambilan gambar.

JAKE: Kami melakukan syuting di Pulau Jeju dan pemandangan di sana begitu luar biasa. Meski kami memiliki sejumlah scene di dalam air, tetapi udara di Jeju sangat membantu. Ada sejumlah teori yang beredar tentang makna di balik video trailer tersebut dari fans kami, banyak juga dari mereka yang mempunyai ide berbeda. Saya rasa tidak ada jawaban yang benar atau salah akan pendapat tersebut, jadi saya akan membiarkan para ENGENE untuk terus menikmati dan bersenang-senang dengan interpretasi mereka. =)

Mini album ORANGE BLOOD memiliki 7 tracklist. Bisakah kalian memilih mana lagu dari album ini yang paling akan disukai oleh fans kalian ENGENE? Serta apa alasannya?

JAY: Saya menyukai setiap lagu yang ada di album ini, tetapi saya memiliki feeling bahwa ENGENE akan menyukai “Orange Flower (You Complete Me)". Lagu ini memancarkan energi yang penuh semangat dan berjiwa muda, di mana menurut saya lagu ini akan menyatu dengan ENGENE serta dapat menjadi sebuah lagu yang bisa dinikmati kapan saja dan di mana saja.

HEESEUNG: Dalam ORANGE BLOOD, pendengar akan menemukan sejumlah lagu dalam berbagai vibes yang berbeda, jadi pasti akan ada sesuatu yang sesuai dengan selera semua orang. Mulai dari lagu yang sentimental hingga berirama upbeat dan lively, album ini dibuat untuk bisa dinikmati dalam kehidupan sehari-hari kita.

NI-KI: Saya rasa ENGENE akan menyukai lead single kami “Sweet Venom.” Kami mempersiapkan diri dengan sebaik mungkin agar dapat menyampaikan sejumlah emosi dan cerita tidak hanya melalui lagu itu sendiri tetapi juga dari sisi perfomance-nya. Jadi, saya berharap ENGENE juga dapat menikmati perfomance untuk lagu “Sweet Venom.”

Untuk JAY, Anda ikut menulis lirik lagu "Sweet Venom" dan bekerja sama dengan produser Slow Rabbit. Apa yang menjadi inspirasi Anda saat menulis lirik lagu ini? Apakah Anda sempat merasa gugup dengan kesempatan tersebut?

JAY: Saya melihat lirik dari beberapa lagu kami sebelumnya dan mencoba memahami lagu tersebut dari sudut pandang kami secara keseluruhan sebagai sebuah grup, bukan hanya sudut pandang pribadi saya sebagai seorang individu. Saya selalu ingin lebih aktif terlibat dalam proses pembuatan album kami dan saya cukup beruntung bisa mendapat kesempatan tersebut di album ini. Saya mencoba untuk menikmati setiap proses yang ada dan hal tersebut secara alami memunculkan sebuah hasil yang memuaskan.

Ada banyak hal baru yang kalian bawa di mini album ORANGE BLOOD, mulai lagu berbahasa Inggris pertama ENHYPEN lewat "Sweet Venom (English Ver.)" dan kolaborasi pertama ENHYPEN dengan penyanyi Bella Poarch. Apalagi mimpi besar yang ingin kalian lakukan ke depannya? Serta seberapa jauh kalian ingin melangkah?

SUNOO: Kami menantikan lebih banyak lagi kolaborasi dengan berbagai musisi di masa depan, hal tersebut semoga dapat memperkaya pengalaman kami semua. Saya rasa kesempatan ini akan menjadi pintu pembuka bagi ENHYPEN untuk meraih perspektif musikal baru dan menunjukkan style yang menyegarkan kepada para penggemar. Di sisi lain, kami juga ingin membuat rekor baru di chart global. Terima kasih kepada seluruh cinta dan dukungan dari ENGENE yang membuat kami dapat meraih prestasi yang luar biasa. 3 tahun sejak ENHYPEN debut, tahun 2023 ini kalian telah berhasil mengadakan konser di Tokyo Dome dengan kapasitas 55.000 penonton. Seperti apa perasaan kalian saat melihat gedung konser yang semakin besar dari waktu ke waktu? Apakah tanggung jawab terasa semakin besar?

JAKE: Dapat tampil di venue yang lebih besar semua hal tersebut dapat terwujud berkat para ENGENE. Dukungan dan cinta mereka yang besar mendorong kami untuk terus maju dan mereka jugalah alasan utama dalam mencapai semua tujuan kami. Thank you ENGENE, love you!

JUNGWON: Sejujurnya hal tersebut masih terasa tidak nyata saat kami mencetak rekor baru dan diakui sebagai sebuah grup yang berhasil meraih sebuah pencapaian tertentu dalan waktu yang singkat. Dengan dukungan luar biasa dari fans kami, secara alami tanggung jawab pun semakin bertambah dari waktu ke waktu sebab kami ingin selalu menunjukkan sisi terbaik dari diri kami sendiri. Semua member ENHYPEN secara konsisten selalu mencari cara untuk berkembang, jadi tolong nantikan untuk melihat sisi lain dari ENHYPEN.

COSMOPOLITAN juga begitu senang melihat kalian begitu aktif di TikTok akhir-akhir ini dengan konten yang refreshing. Siapa di antara member ENHYPEN yang paling aktif dan ter-update dalam urusan tren di media sosial?

HEESEUNG: Saya rasa SUNGHOON adalah member yang paling update terhadap tren TikTok akhir-akhir ini dan ia begitu menikmati proses pembuatan kontennya.

SUNGHOON: Betul, saya menganggap diri saya yang paling aktif di TikTok dan tren media sosial secara keseluruhan. Saya sering men-scroll video TikTok di waktu luang saya dan mencari konten-konten terbaru untuk kami buat.

ENHYPEN telah bersenang-senang dan bertemu banyak ENGENE selama second world tour 'FATE'. Sekarang kalian akan segera menuju tur Asia di bulan Januari 2024. Anda tahu, kami masih menunggu ENHYPEN datang ke Indonesia… Di 2024 nanti apa yang bisa kami nantikan dari ENHYPEN?

JUNGWON: Mengingat akan ada lebih banyak lagi kesempatan bagi ENHYPEN untuk tampil di tempat baru di tahun 2024 nanti, harapan saya adalah siapa pun yang datang ke show kami untuk pertama kalinya dapat terpukau dengan perfomance kami, menjadi ENGENE dan berharap bisa melihat kami kami lagi. Resolusi lainnya dari saya adalah bisa menjadi yang nomor satu, tetapi itu adalah tujuan akhir saya bukan hanya untuk tahun 2024 saja. Saya bertekad untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut meski membutuhkan waktu untuk meraihnya.

HEESEUNG: Saya bercita-cita untuk berbagi lebih banyak lagi momen bahagia bersama ENGENE di tahun depan. Lalu membangun lebih banyak growth tahun ini, kami berharap ENGENE dapat terus bersama ENHYPEN saat kami terus belajar dan berkembang di tahun 2024 nanti.

JAY: Kami ingin membuat terobosan dengan menerima tantangan baru lagi yang dapat menunjukkan versi ENHYPEN yang lebih baik lagi. Kami akan berupaya sebaik mungkin untuk mengungkap sisi lain dari diri kami, jadi tetaplah bersemangat untuk melihat apa yang ENHYPEN miliki.

INTERVIEW: ENHYPEN Shows Their New Side in Mini Album ORANGE BLOOD & Talk About Resolution in 2024

ENHYPEN seems never to get tired of creating delightful surprises in their career journey. Cosmopolitan Indonesia has been a witness to every achievement they've brought forth, so it is not an exaggeration to call this group the K-Pop powerhouse of this generation. Thanks to the numerous achievements and new records they have made from time to time notable and prideful examples: in 2023, ENHYPEN successfully sold 1.32 million copies in the first week since the release of their fourth mini-album, DARK BLOOD. This achievement led the performers of "Bite Me" to earn the triple "million-seller" title in less than three years since their debut.

Through the ENHYPEN WORLD TOUR 'FATE' IN JAPAN, the seven members of ENHYPEN: JUNGWON, HEESEUNG, JAY, JAKE, SUNGHOON, SUNOO, and NI-KI also became one of the K-pop boy groups to successfully hold a solo concert in Tokyo Dome at the fastest pace since their debut. It doesn't stop there, as in the remaining part of 2023, ENHYPEN once again proves their musicality and popularity with their fifth mini-album, ORANGE BLOOD. And soon Cosmo predict we will all also hear other good news from this group!

The question of what groundbreaking moves they will make next continues to linger in our minds: How is it that this group remains so consistent in delivering the best for their listeners and beloved fans, ENGENE? What is their secret?

Released on November 17, 2023, let's talk about mini album ORANGE BLOOD as the perfect manifestation of ENHYPEN's warm, fresh, and youthful images. Through this mini-album, fans are seemingly transported to a warm side amidst the winter of 2023, where the album coincidentally being released on the first day of snowfall in South Korea.

There's a noticeable difference when observing ENHYPEN's performances and listening to the seven songs in this album. Perhaps this is why ENHYPEN continues to ignite their popularity because that group under BELIFT LAB, never stops at one point and dares to explore new things they have never tried before. You might agree that ENHYPEN always comes back with something full of exploration and whimsical things in each of their releases.

And now, let's talk about their lead single, "Sweet Venom". This is a song with an addictive funk pop-rhythm. The choreography of "Sweet Venom" also feels catchy and on point. There are many new elements for the group in the ORANGE BLOOD album. One of them is ENHYPEN's first collaboration with other musicians, the young singer Bella Poarch and JAY is also co-wrote the lyrics for "Sweet Venom" alongside the producer Slow Rabbit.

For the second time, Cosmopolitan Indonesia had the opportunity to get an email interview with ENHYPEN. This is the right time for us to ask these seven talented individuals about their latest mini-album, ORANGE BLOOD, the increasing popularity each year, and their biggest hope for 2024. We are also excited to find out who among the ENHYPEN members is the most up-to-date on social media (you know, we love their TikTok so much, right!).

Seven months after fourth mini album DARK BLOOD, ENHYPEN are back with the 5th mini album ORANGE BLOOD. This mini album seems to have the fantasy DNA from DARK BLOOD but appears warmer and more contrasting vibes than before. What kind of image do you want to show this time? And what message do you hope ENGENE’s will remember from this mini album?

JUNGWON: With ORANGE BLOOD, we want to showcase the breadth of our musical spectrum. We’ve explored various genres and styles since our debut, but this album highlights a fresh style we haven’t tried out before. We want to keep showing ourselves taking on new challenges and experimenting with different styles.

SUNOO: ORANGE BLOOD embodies our interpretation of the ‘Carpe diem’ philosophy of love - to love as if each moment were the last. Likewise, the main message we want to convey above all else is that ENHYPEN is dedicated to wholeheartedly loving ENGENEs. We aim to present an improved version of ourselves with this album, emanating a different vibe from our previous releases.

When the 'ORANGE BLOOD Concept trailer' was released, it created a huge reaction from ENGENEs. Are you aware that fans have come up with many theories regarding this concept trailer, especially with the DARK MOON: THE BLOOD ALTAR storyline? Also, with the filming location in Jeju Island and the aesthetic scene direction by director Yu Kwang Goeng, do you have any challenging scenes or interesting stories while filming?

SUNGHOOON: Following the concept trailer for our 4th Mini Album DARK BLOOD, we had the chance to work with director Yu Kwang Goeng once again for the ORANGE BLOOD concept trailer. His guidance was instrumental in immersing ourselves in the emotions, which resulted in an incredible trailer. The beautiful scenery of Jeju Island left us all in awe throughout the entire shoot.

JAKE: We filmed the trailer in Jeju Island, and the scenery itself was absolutely breathtaking. We took numerous shots underwater, so the amazing weather of Jeju Island was a big help. There are various theories circulating about the meaning behind the trailer among our fans, many of them are coming up with different ideas. I don’t think there’s a right or wrong answer, so I’ll let ENGENEs continue to enjoy and have fun with their interpretations. :)

For JAY, you participated in writing the lyrics for the song "Sweet Venom" and worked with producer Slow Rabbit. What inspired you the most when writing the lyrics for this song? Are you feel nervous about this opportunity?

JAY: I looked through the lyrics of some of our past songs and tried to perceive them from the perspective of our group as a whole rather than just my own, as an individual. I’ve always wanted to be more actively involved in the making of our album, and I was lucky enough to have the opportunity this time around. I tried to thoroughly enjoy myself throughout the process, and a satisfying outcome naturally came out of it.

**The mini album ORANGE BLOOD consists of 7 tracklist. Can you pick which song from this album that maybe ENGENEs is most likely to enjoy and love it so much, also the reason why you choose it?**

JAY: I love every track on this album, but I have a feeling ENGENEs would particularly love "Orange Flower (You Complete Me)". It radiates vibrant and youthful energy that I think will resonate well with ENGENEs, making it a song that can be enjoyed anytime, anywhere.

HEESEUNG: In ORANGE BLOOD, you’ll find songs spanning various vibes, so there’s something for everyone’s taste. From more sentimental songs to upbeat and lively tunes, this album is crafted to be enjoyed in our everyday lives.

NI-KI: I think ENGENEs would especially love the lead single "Sweet Venom". We’re preparing hard to convey a range of emotions and stories not just through the song itself but also through its performance. So I hope ENGENEs enjoy the performances for "Sweet Venom" as well.

There are so many new elements in the mini album ORANGE BLOOD, such as ENHYPEN’s first English-language song "Sweet Venom (English Ver.)" and the first collaboration with international singer for "Sweet Venom (Feat. Bella Poarch)". What other big dreams do you have for the future? How far do you want to go as a group?

SUNOO: We look forward to many more collaborations to come in the future with a diverse array of artists, which will surely be an enriching experience for all of us. I think this will open doors for us to gain new musical perspectives and introduce fresh styles to our fans. At the same time, we want to make a mark on the global charts. It’s all thanks to the love and support from our ENGENEs that we’ve been able to achieve notable feats, and we aim to reciprocate that by building our global presence further for opportunities to more directly connect with our ENGENEs around the world.

NI-KI: On a personal level, my goal is to consistently explore uncharted territories and enhance my skillsets. I believe our collective goals as a group will keep evolving and diversifying as we persistently work to achieve them one by one.

3 years since ENHYPEN’s debut, this year you successfully held a concert at Tokyo Dome with a such large capacity. How does it feel to see your concert venues getting bigger and bigger over the time? Does the responsibility is also getting bigger after set a new record?

JAKE: Being able to perform at larger venues was all made possible by ENGENEs. Their support and love propel us forward, and they are the main reason we can achieve our goals. Thank you ENGENEs, love you!

JUNGWON: Honestly, it’s still surreal when we set new records and are recognized as a group achieving a certain milestone within the shortest time. With the immense support from our fans, it’s only natural that our responsibilities grow over time, urging us to present better versions of ourselves. All of us are consistently looking for ways to improve, so please stay tuned for more from ENHYPEN.

COSMOPOLITAN is also enjoy to see you are being so active on TikTok lately with so many refreshing & fun contents. Among the ENHYPEN members, who is the most active and up-to-date when it comes to social media trends?

HEESEUNG: I think SUNGHOON stays most current with TikTok trends and genuinely enjoys filming his own.

SUNGHOON: Indeed, I consider myself the most active when it comes to TikTok and social media trends overall. I often scroll through TikTok during my free time and search for new content to film.

ENHYPEN had a lot of fun and met so many ENGENEs during the second world tour ‘FATE.’ Now you’re heading for an Asian tour in January 2024. You know, we’re still looking forward for ENHYPEN coming to Indonesia… For 2024, what can we expect from ENHYPEN? Do you have any specific resolution for your personal life and group?

JUNGWON: Given that there will be more opportunities for us to perform in new places in 2024, my hope is that those attending our show for the first time will be captivated by our performance, become ENGENEs, and wish to see more of us. Another resolution of mine is to become number one, but it’s my end goal that not only pertains to 2024. I am determined to achieve this goal, even if it takes some time.

HEESEUNG: I aspire to share more happy moments with ENGENEs in the coming year. Building on our growth this year, we hope ENGENEs will be with us as we continue to learn and grow in 2024.

JAY: We would like to break new ground by embracing new challenges to show an enhanced version of ENHYPEN. We’re putting our best efforts into unveiling different sides of ourselves, so please stay excited for what ENHYPEN has in store.

JAKE: You can look forward to amazing performances like you’ve never seen before! ENHYPEN is coming!

SUNGHOON: As we perpetually strive for improvement each year, my wish for us is to become an artist who not only continues to evolve but also one that has evidently become the ‘next level’ version of ourselves in this journey. NI-KI: I want to visit places we haven’t been to yet, connect with even more ENGENEs and feel their energy onstage.
